Team Founder and CEO Dave Player comments on the fantastic achievements of disabled racing drivers over the weekend.

For years, I have been fighting for improved access to motorsport for disabled drivers. Team BRIT is the embodiment of this and is demonstrating how it is possible for disabled drivers to compete equally, with no special league, championship, or treatment.

This Easter weekend has been a pivotal moment for disabled motorsport and I am thrilled to see such progress across the industry.

Billy Monger has impressed the world by competing in his first race since he was injured and showing that he is a serious contender. With a podium finish on Saturday and top ten on Monday, this young lad is doing exactly what we are doing with our team – getting out there and showing others that motorsport really is a sport in which disability doesn’t count.

Similarly, the Invictus Racing Team was also on the track at Oulton Park in British GT this weekend– the same track we’ll be racing at on Saturday.

This is huge. I’d like to offer my congratulations to Billy and to Invictus Racing, who are all out there, making history and sharing our goal.

The UK is the only country in the world that has so many disabled racing drivers competing at so many different levels – from sprint racers like paraplegic Aaron Morgan competing in his BMW, to injured troops like double amputee Davie Birrell and Mike Courts, to the Invictus Racing team in British GT and Billy Monger in British F3.

To add to this I am extremely proud that Team BRIT will be fielding two teams of rookies in team endurance racing in the Fun Cup – starting this weekend at Oulton Park. Our new Team BRIT GT4 team will also be having its debut GT4 race in May – news to follow soon.

Britain is leading the way once again – the playing field is levelling out for disabled drivers and I am so pleased to be part of the steam roller that is driving the revolution!

The revolution has started!
